EDUCATION & UNDERSTANDING
A core part of the Cedar Forest Program is educating participants about how moral injury impacts them, giving them the language, frameworks, and tools to understand their experiences.

Our Approach
A Different Path to Healing
This whole-person approach is designed by and for warriors, honoring the full cost of service while opening new avenues toward balance, connection, and long-term reintegration.
Our approach combines evidence-informed practices with alternative healing styles that help reset both mind and body. Education, regulation skills, movement, music, and reflective practices work alongside peer mentorship so no one has to walk the Cedar Forest alone.
Mind & Emotions
We help participants name moral injury, understand how it overlaps with PTSD, and explore guilt, shame, grief, and identity. Through guided reflection, storytelling, and peer support, warriors learn that their reactions are human responses to impossible situations, not personal failure.
Whole-Person Healing
The Cedar Forest Program uses a whole-person approach to moral injury. We work with the mental, physical, and spiritual sides of what warriors carry, instead of treating any one part in isolation. Education, nervous system skills, and meaning-making all move together.
Body & Nervous System
We teach how the nervous system and vagus nerve respond to stress and moral conflict. Breathwork, movement, and regulation practices help reset the body, release stored tension, and give warriors tools they can use in daily life when memories or triggers show up.
Spirit, Purpose & Connection
Healing also means rebuilding trust, meaning, and purpose. Through brotherhood, service, and leadership opportunities, participants reconnect with their values and identity beyond the battlefield, turning what they carry into fuel for service, not a source of silent isolation.
WHAT MAKES CEDAR FOREST DIFFERENT?
01
PEER-LED EXPERIENCE: Led by veterans who have navigated the same terrain, creating an immediate baseline of trust and shared language.
02
PHYSIOLOGICAL ALIGNMENT: We treat the nervous system as the core of recovery, moving beyond talk therapy to physiological re-regulation.
03
MORAL INJURY SPECIALIZED: Specific protocols address the soul-deep conflicts from high-stakes decision-making and duty.
04
IDENTITY INTEGRATION: A structured path to bridge the gap between service identity and a meaningful civilian future.
05
NON-CLINICAL ENVIRONMENT: We operate in artisanal, environments that foster genuine connection rather than a patient-provider dynamic.
06
SUSTAINED NETWORK: Our graduates enter a permanent lifelong community, ensuring recovery is not just a season, but a foundation.
